FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS WHEELSECURE?

WHEELSECURE is a preventive anti-puncture product. Water-based, and once injected, it will guarantee protection against air leaks throughout the life of the tire. It covers and adheres to the inner surface of the tires. WHEELSECURE is a pasty, non-flammable, non-toxic composition and is not a hydrocarbon.

HOW DOES WHEELSECURE WORK?

WHEELSECURE is injected through the valve and maintains its gel-like structure inside the tire for the duration of its use. By covering the entire inner surface of the tread, WHEELSECURE protects the carcass of the tire, seals porosity, prevents air leaks and limits the risk of bursts and protects against punctures.

HOW DOES IT SEAL A HOLE ON THE TIRE TRACK?

WHEELSECURE deposits a thin layer of protection between the tire and the air contained therein. When an object penetrates the surface of the tread, the air pressure inside the tire pushes the sealant into the damaged area and seals it completely.

HOW MUCH WHEELSECURE IS NEEDED?

Download the “TABLE OF QUANTITIES” from the “Downloads” section on our website www.wheelsecure.com

WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL BENEFITS FOR THE WHEELSECURE CUSTOMER?

The protection of WHEELSECURE on the internal tread of the tire prevents 5 to 10 times less pressure loss, resulting in a substantial average saving of –3% on fuel consumption and extending life by 20 to 50% of the tire. WHEELSECURE performs centrifugal balancing of the wheel at more than 40 km/h during the life of the tire.

IS IT EASY TO INSTALL WHEELSECURE?

Yes ! Processing time is quick and does not require too long downtime. Beforehand, it is necessary to equip yourself with a shell remover and an air compressor to re-inflate the tire … You can watch the video “WheelSecure application tutorial”.

DOES WHEELSECURE CAUSE IMBALANCE PROBLEMS?

No ! WHEELSECURE cannot create imbalance or unbalance. It is nevertheless essential to respect the break-in period: 80 km / h maximum the first 100 kms, then you gradually increase your speed beyond that, harmless vibrations will be felt which will eventually disappear completely in less than 300 km. Note that the anti-puncture effect is obvious after only ten kms.

ONCE INSTALLED, HOW LONG DOES THE EFFECT OF WHEELSECURE LAST?

WHEELSECURE guarantees efficiency and protection throughout the life of the tire.

DOES WHEELSECURE FREEZE OR EVAPORATE IN EXTREME CLIMATE CONDITIONS?

No ! As long as Wheelsecure is protected from UV rays in the tire, it retains all of its characteristics.

WHAT IS THE STORAGE PERIOD OF WHEELSECURE?

WHEELSECURE can be stored for at least 60 months (5 years), if not exposed to direct sunlight and temperatures ranging from -10 ° C to + 45 ° C.

DOES WHEELSECURE LUGGLE INTO THE LOWER TIRE?

No ! The thixotropic properties of WHEELSECURE prevent its agglomeration. Its thixotropic gel formula defies gravity and adheres to the entire internal surface of the tire. WHEELSECURE does not contain any adhesive, so there is no chemical modification to the tire that could affect its warranty.

CAN I REPAIR A TIRE TREATED WITH WHEELSECURE?

Yes ! WHEELSECURE is completely soluble in water. Using a brush and water, clean the entire surface of the tread. WHEELSECURE does not contain an adhesive agent, so it can be easily removed from the tire surface. All major repairs can be done afterwards without any additional preparation.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM SIZE OF A PUNCTURE FOR WHICH WHEELSECURE IS EFFECTIVE?

6 mm in diameter for a -3.5 tonnes vehicle and 12 mm for + 3.5 tonnes.

CAN WE USE WHEELSECURE WITH TIRES EQUIPPED WITH AN AIR CHAMBER?

Yes ! But protecting a tire with an inner tube is not as efficient and effective as a tubeless tire. In fact, the inner tube consists of a thin wall which rubs against the tire which itself is not waterproof at the valve.

IS WHEELSECURE BETTER THAN A WICK?

Yes. In most cases WHEELSECURE is better than a wick as it is a preventative system that helps extend the life of the tires. A wick is a repair done after the tire has deflated and usually it has already driven several miles while deflated. Driving even a short distance with a deflated radial tire can seriously and irreversibly damage the carcass of the tire without being visible. The “safety factor” is the main reason for using WHEELSECURE Puncture Protection. It is a preventive maintenance system that extends the life of tires.

DOES WHEELSECURE HAZARD OF ATTACKING OR CHEWING THE METAL STRUCTURE OR THE RIMS?

No! The advanced coagulating and restorative properties of WHEELSECURE have proven that the special anti-corrosive system protects against rust and oxidation. WHEELSECURE does not remove rust or corrosion that is already present, but it neutralizes it and prevents further damage.

IS IT NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE OBJECT THAT PUNCHED THE TIRE THEN EVEN WHEELSECURE PREVENT PUNCTURE?

Always. Even though WHEELSECURE is sealed around the object, if the object is kept in the tire, it will move as the tire rotates and create a larger hole until air escapes. If the object is a screw or a nut, you must unscrew it, not pull it, as this will tear the rubber and certainly the steel casing.

SHOULD A TIRE ROLL AFTER A PERFORATING OBJECT HAS BEEN REMOVED?

Yes. Although WHEELSECURE covered the remaining surface of the cavity, it did not enter it. The tire must therefore be in motion in order to open the cavity and allow WHEELSECURE to enter it. Once again, the tire must be set in motion immediately after removing the object.

IS WHEELSECURE SOLUBLE IN WATER?

Yes.

DOES WHEELSECURE DEPOSIT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TIRE WHEN IT IS NOT MOVING?

No. WHEELSECURE thanks to its unique composition allows the product to adhere to the inner surface of the tire and disperses evenly on the tire when it is in motion. Once it finds its place in the tire on the tread, Wheelsecure does not fall out, even after a long period of immobilization.

WILL WHEELSECURE SEAL A PERFORATION IN THE SIDES OF THE TIRE?

No. Wheelsecure only protects the tread.

WILL WHEELSECURE FORM A HARD CAP IN THE SURFACE OF THE TIRE TREAD?

No. The cap is elastic and flexible because the tires flex. If the plug were hard and did not flex with the tire, leaks would develop over time.

WILL WHEELSECURE DRY IN THE TIRE?

No. Because the tire is a closed and sealed container, no evaporation of liquid can occur and it will remain in the same condition it was when it was installed in the tire.

CAN WHEELSECURE BE INSTALLED WITH A PNEUMATIC PUMP?

Yes, but it would be difficult to measure the volume or the weight injected into the tire.

HOW MUCH WHEELSECURE PRODUCT IS INJECTED IN A SINGLE PUMP?

Each pump stroke sends 100 ml of product.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHEELSECURE AND OTHER ANTI-PUNCTURE PRODUCTS?

WHEELSECURE is formulated on a glycol basis, it cannot dissociate or dry out inside the tire, unlike all other products which set, cause balance problems and alter the composition of the tire rubber. When applied correctly, WHEELSECURE will not affect the tire balance. WHEELSECURE is made from recycled rubber and contains no fibers. This is because the fibers would behave like a foreign body in the tire and change the structural integrity of the tire. With WHEELSECURE, the hole in the rubber is sealed with rubber, which is a bit like a graft instead of a bandage.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHEELSECURE AND OTHER PRODUCTS SOLD IN AEROSOLS?

Many of these products have been designed to be “curative”, they are introduced into the tire after a puncture and normally constitute an interim measure to allow “going home”. Conversely, WHEELSECURE is a “preventative” and it is injected before a perforation occurs. In addition, products injected as “curative” have a chemical composition which attacks the tire and accelerates its wear, while Wheelsecure protects the tire from the inside, thus increasing its life.

IS WHEELSECURE A FLAMMABLE OR TOXIC PRODUCT?

No.

CAN WHEELSECURE BE INSTALLED ON USED TIRES?

Yes for a tire in working order.

IS WHEELSECURE COMPATIBLE WITH ALL VALVES ON THE MARKET?

Yes, for loan of 90% of the valves on the market. Only the 65-567-68 rubber Schrader TPMS valve is a problem. The latter is easily recognizable by its smooth collar extending from the thread and by its longer than normal and oval cap. It is then sufficient to unhinge part of the wheel to inject Wheelsecure directly into the tire.
